Golden Rules
- Even the best handicappers only achieve about a 30% strike rate, so look for odds of 5-2 or better in general.
- Keep a record of every bet you make - I do, and it makes fascinating reading in the cold light of day! Stops you getting big-heading on a winning streak (chance'd be a fine thing)
- An outsider is usually an outsider for a reason, unless of course you know a man who knows a man...
- A good bet is not a good bet just because it wins. If you take 10-1 on the toss of a coin, and lose, you still had a value bet. In the same way a win on an odds-on favourite may not be anything to be proud of!
